Quick answers for protecting your journal, creating consistent check-ins and keeping a recoverable copy of your data.

Getting started

Start a check-in

Open Today and choose “Start today’s check-in.” Follow the pose cues, set a timer if needed, and save any optional context that helps you.

Compare two dates

Open Compare, select an earlier and later check-in, then choose swipe reveal, overlay or side-by-side mode.

Hide weight numbers

Open Settings and turn on Gentle mode. Existing weight records stay saved but their numbers are hidden from view.

Lock older progress

Past progress lock can limit when older photos, comparisons, weight and measurements are available to view.

Back up before making changes

Before deleting the app, moving from a preview build to the App Store version, or changing devices, open Settings → Data safety and create a portable backup. Save the .bodylog file somewhere private, then confirm it exists before continuing.

A backup export is not encrypted. Store it somewhere you trust and do not share it casually.

If the camera is unavailable

Open iPhone Settings, find Body Log and confirm Camera access is enabled. Body Log uses the camera only for captures you start inside the app.

If Face ID does not unlock

Use your six-digit Body Log passcode. You can review biometric access in iPhone Settings and reopen the app after changing the permission.

If a backup will not restore

Keep the original archive unchanged and do not rename files inside it. Body Log checks archive structure and photo integrity during restore and will refuse a damaged backup rather than silently create an incomplete journal.
