Getting started
Start a private check-in
Open Today and choose “Start today’s check-in.” Follow the pose cues and save only the photos and optional context you want.
Compare two dates
Open Compare, select an earlier and later check-in, match the pose, then use side-by-side, swipe reveal or blend.
Hide weight values
Open Settings and turn on Gentle Mode. The history remains stored while weight numbers disappear from everyday views.
Limit older progress
Past Progress Lock can reduce when older photos, comparisons, weight and measurements are available to view.
Why is the photo not in my Camera Roll?
That is the intended behaviour. Captures taken inside Body Log are moved into its private local storage and are not automatically added to Photos. If you want an external copy, use an explicit export or backup workflow rather than expecting a Camera Roll duplicate.
Back up before deleting or changing devices
Open Settings → Data Safety and explicitly create a portable backup. Complete the iOS share action, choose where to save the .bodylog file and confirm the file exists.
The Body Log private vault is excluded from automatic device and iCloud backups. Portable backups are integrity-checked but not encrypted. Store the exported file somewhere private and keep the old installation until restore is verified.
If the camera is unavailable
Open iPhone Settings, find Body Log and confirm Camera access is enabled. Body Log uses the camera only for captures you start inside the app.
If Face ID does not unlock
Use the six-digit Body Log passcode. Review biometric access in iPhone Settings and reopen the app after changing permission.
If a backup will not restore
Keep the original archive unchanged and do not rename files inside it. Body Log checks archive structure and photo integrity and will refuse a damaged backup rather than silently create an incomplete journal.
Does Body Log use AI on photos?
No. There is no AI photo analysis, body-fat estimate, physique score or model-training use. Read why this is by design →
